Longines FEI World Cup Western European League – Jumping International La Baule

The 1st step of the 2018 Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™  Series for the Europe Division 1 and 2nd step of the FFE French Tour will take place in the famous François André Stadium of La Baule by welcoming  leading athletes of Show Jumping this May the 17thto the 20th 2018. Four days of excellence are awaited during which the best horses and riders will compete keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.

Thursday, will enable riders to start scoring points for the Longines Rankings.  Friday will be the first highlight of the weekend with the Grand Prix Longines – La Baule (2 p.m.). 50 riders, amongst the best in the world, on their best horse will compete for the victory. Olympic, World and European champions, great names of the discipline will try to push themselves to the top of the prize list of this 5 star event, inaugurated in 1963 by Janou Lefèbvre (Kenavo D).

There’s no time for rest, as saturday gives place to the famous Derby of Pays de la Loire region (12:00 a.m.). A spectacular event, combining the likes of Cross – Country and Show-jumping with banks and rivers as well as jumps. La Baule Derby is one of the most renowned in the world and most popular amongst riders.

The famous team competition now named “Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™ of France” will occur this year on Sunday (1 p.m.). The Grand Finale of these 4 days of competition will crown the best of the 8 teams engaged in La Baule.

As well as 8 classes of five star Show-Jumping that will mark the highest level of competition of this Longines Jumping International of La Baule, one other event is also presented to the public, a CSI 1* made up of 8 classes reserved for hardened advanced riders and horses.

The mythical team class, now knowed as Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM of France, will take place on Sunday 20th May at 1.00pm to bring to a close the 58th edition of the Jumping of La Baule (17 – 20 May).

Class reserved to the world elite of showjumping horses and riders, the Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM of France will bring together 8 teams, composed of 5 riders (among which one reservist), who will confront in two legs:


The countdown of the historical Longines FEI Jumping Nations CupTM circuit has begun. For the 2018 season, the calendar includes 13 qualifiers organized on 3 continents (Division 1 and 2 of Europe / North America, Central America and Caribeans / Middle East). The festivities will start in Abu Dhabi (UAE) on February 17th, and the next day in Ocala (USA).

In the European Division 1, ten nations among the best in the world will compete this year: NED (winners of the 2017 circuit), FRA, GER, IRL, ITA, SPA, SUI, SWE, GBR, BEL. These teams will have to choose 5 qualifiers and try to grab some precious points in order to reach the world final in Barcelona (4-7 October 2018).

The French selection

Winner of the La Baule leg in 2017, the national coach Philippe Guerdat will present a strong team in La Baule in order to grab the first points. In this search, the French team will compete in the CSIO5* of St Gall (SUI, 31/05 – 03/06), Sopot (POL, 14/06 – 17/06), Rotterdam (NED, 21/06 – 24/06) and Dublin (IRL, 08/08 – 12/08).
