LOOK ERAS CLAIMS THE LONGINES CUP AT THE FIRST EDITION
OF THE LONGINES NIGHT RACES
The LONGINES Cup, the fifth race of the evening, was claimed by Look Eras ridden by jockey Nash Rawiller in 1:10:33. The winning owner, jockey, and trainer were each awarded with elegant LONGINES Conquest Classic timepieces, presented by Ms. Karen Au Yeung, Vice President of LONGINES Hong Kong.
The LONGINES Night Race was graced by the presence of Hong Kong actress and television presenter Ali Lee, who experienced for the first time the excitement of LONGINES horse racing event. Ali Lee said: “With the LONGINES Night Races being my first attendance at a horse racing event, I am fascinated by LONGINES’ passion for equestrian sports and the thrilling action on the racecourse. I definitely gained a better understanding of the brand’s motto “Elegance is an attitude”. It is really an impressive and enjoyable evening.”
As part of its partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Swiss watch brand is the Title Partner and Official Timekeeper of the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races week, including the LONGINES International Jockeys’ Championship, taking place on Wednesday December 6th. In addition, LONGINES has the honour to co-host the LHKIR Gala Dinner on Friday 8th, during which will be presented the “2017 LONGINES World Best Jockey Award”, a prize quantitatively recognizing the best jockey among his or her global peers.
On Sunday December 10th, LONGINES will be welcoming its Ambassador of Elegance Eddie Peng as a guest of 2017 LONGINES Hong Kong International Race – an event he already attended in 2014. As the perfect illustration of the brand’s signature elegance, the Taiwanese actor will present the LONGINES Prize for Elegance, which will reward the most elegant lady of the Sha Tin Racecourse.
LONGINES’ passion for equestrian sports dates back to 1878, when it produced a chronograph engraved with a jockey and its horse. Seen on the racetracks as of 1881, this model was extremely popular among jockeys and horse-lovers. It enabled its user to time performances to the second and was soon being used by most of the sports judges in New York. Today, LONGINES’ involvement in equestrian sports includes horse racing, show-jumping, driving, eventing, dressage and endurance competitions.
